Ugh america is a federation of states, not people. The electorial college is the correct and only way to hold american presidential elections.

Uh, take a poli sci class dude, theres a damn good reason the popular vote doesn't decide the president. There needed to be a compromise between the nationalists, who wanted direct voting, and state-soveriegnty advocates that wanted state legislatures to vote for president. They came to the compromise that the total amount of representatives the state has in washington was the amount of electors they would have. This created a balance between small and large states.
If there was a direct vote, candidates would cater only to the urban needs and ignore rural interrests, and rural states for that matter because they have no power. its a good system, just a little tricky...

I AM in political science.. past midterm.. I HAVE taken a pretty in depth look into the political systems of America, and I have decided this is the way I think it should be. Candidates NEED to cater to the urban needs, they NEED to appeal to the majority of the ENTIRE population.. The way we have it now, a small group of rich folks are controlling 85% of the wealth in America... if we did away with the electoral college, the PEOPLE would be heard... fuck, our democracy is a hypocrisy

Oh god, please shoot yourself before you ruin our country by voting.
elitism in politics has nothing to do with the electoral college, it has to do with campaign finance.

cater to urban areas and you'll have LA and NYC sucking all the resources dry, without an plan of replenishment, the economy would be destroyed because ag. would suffer immensely, and taxes would be insane paying for all the social services, expansion of urbanization etc. Urban areas, especially like LA and the socal metro are the blight of america, it destroys environments from san francisco, to colorado by stealing all the water. YOU NEED A BALANCE.. if you can't see that, you should retake poli sci next year.

Everyone stop fucking saying this!!!!! 5 days and counting, guys. Wake up. There are four or five states that are going to determine this election. If you don't live in one of them, stop using this as an excuse not to vote third party. SS7's in Cali. He can vote for whoever he wants.

I may need too if I can;t pull off a decent grade... But I am pullin a 75% as of now, with invested projects that should bring me to a 80% as final grade
PS. I am gonna avoid replying to your political assumptions and landslide conversational techniques. Of COURSE you need a Balance... and what we have now, is NOT a balance.. Pss.. I bet your voting Bush... and BTW, I am not voting, I am gonna protest the vote, because my candidate is not on the ballet, and by spending gas money to go stand in line, I am saying I support the war in Iraq( okok, I realize this may be a stretch)

lol yeah, i'm voting bush, you got my number. i'm voting for Cobb. I'm actually meeting him on the 2nd in cotati, california to thank him for running for my party. protesting the vote is ridiculous. There are tons of measures on your ballot, state, local, representatives other than presidents. But yeah, dont vote, you dont have the intelligence.

yes, I meant no insult as well.. a rule of thumb is: Don't discuss religion or politics with anyone , too personal, people get heated, etc.

you SHOULD cares who wins, because your future matters because of it. I'm not going to start preaching my pro kerry attitude on you, i'm just pretty sure you haven't done good quality research on candidates with that mindless, typical nonvoting pot smoking teenager attitude.

Yeah man, vote. Even if you are a pot smoking teenager. There are candidates out there who will immediately legalize pot. Spend the next 5 days reading up and make an informed decision.

^^^ they support the decriminalization of marijuana but it would take more than just a presidents support to make MJ legal on a Federal level. There is even an international treaty that we would have to violate.

Seriously guys please vote. I'd give up my Canadian vote for your American vote in a second, I'm scared to death that Bush will have another 4 years of power (not necessarily saying he'll be elected...but some how he'll fuck the vote and get in). You guys are voting for who you think should run YOUR country, but keep in mind this guy is also gonna be messing around in OUR world.

Your country affects every single one of our lives.
