Knotting?

I have heard people talk about "knotting". The mycellium on my casing layer is "curling up" and pointing upwards. Is this "knotting"? How long after knotting should I see pins? Thanks!

This is what my monkey told me about "knotting":

{"knots" (or in Germany "knatzies":D) basicly look like little, tiny, white, balls... they are usualy circular in shape and are extremely small but EXTREMELY easy to notice once you know what you are looking for...they are sometimes smaller than the size of a pin head... often when they form they for where mycelium forms a sort of "web" .. if your using vermiculite which is loosly placed on your casing then you will see *exactly* what i mean... out of these "knots" grow "pins" which grow to "fruits/abhorts".... ya dig???;)... and if your dealing w/ cakes you'll notice this on your cakes too but it will only look like little white bumps... } peace
