I read something earlier about using coffee water to moisten your jars. Could you just use coffee beans as an alternative to popcorn or BRF?

O.K. Just thought I'd ask. It sounded like it might work because of the coffee water thing. What does the coffee water do anyway, act as some sort of stimulant for the myc?

I don't think anyone ever really answered this question and I haven't heard of anyone using decaf to see if it's just the caffine. I just did my first couple of jars PF Tek stye. I used a weak coffee mixture instead of plain water in two of my jars and they are colonizing about a third faster then the other jars. I drink my coffee pretty strong so I added about a shot's worth of coffee to one cup of water.

Basically from all those pages of reading in the coffee tek forum it said straight beans don't work, i don't know why. It seemed like the best thing to do is what ymhrswrider said. Some people dunk theirs in a coffee mixture and got good results and the rest got contams, so that seems kinda risky.

my buddy used instant and when he shakes hiw wbs the recovery is amazing, less then 12 hours.

no difference in contams from using reg water to simmer either.

Just to clarify, i didn't mean that they contamed more if they were simmered or soaked in coffee then pressure cooked, but if they were dunked in coffee after being fully colonized.

Roger Rabbit beats me by 20 minutes every time... he's done some very impressive
