I assume you're using a grain tek instead of the PF-Tek?

The PF-Tek can be done by boiling your jars in a pan with a lid on top, jars need to be half submerged in water and boiled with the lid on for an hour - hour and a half.

If you are doing something like rye, you can use the fractional sterilization tek, just search the main site for it. It consists of boiling your rye 1 hour each day for 3 days. Hypothetically speaking it should allow the endospores to germinate and then fry them the next day when it's boiled again. I've never tried this tek, just read it.

your pf jars do not need to be in the water at all....as a matter of fact it is better to raise them so they are not in the water...this goes for steam or pc
