Ok, so i've got these jars. They're full pints, and they're taking forever. A couple hve already become contaminated. They're all about 25-50% colonized. I want to know if i could remove the colonized parts from the cakes and make them into casings (via. "Sea of Shrooms Tek."). Please help. BTW, they're PF strain on PF cake. Thanks!

I'm doing the same thing, and I say go with a 50/50, but cut out the unused crap. then again, the mycelium may not be ready.. If some of them are contaminated, just let them grow. Sometimes the mycelium will be strong enough to kill the foregin fungus and your cake will live. Otherwise you're risking your health and possibly life because mycelium networks are complex and diverse, i.e mycelium may be in contact with bacteria that is on the other side of the jar, hence that mycelium, although it appears healthy, is actually infected.
Man, if it weren't for that can we found, life around here would be really pathetic.

My uncles dog has never had good luck with pint size jars, they always contaminate before fully colonized. You can always try premature birth on your jars, just remember to cut away all uncolonized substrate and a little of the colonized just to make sure. By doing this your are risking contamination because the mycelium is still pretty youn and not as resistant to contams as a fully colonized jar, but its better than just letting them sit in the jar and get contaminated. Go ahead and case the colonized parts, you might get some shroomz out of it.
I can see a world where this is no poverty and no war, I can also see us attacking that world because they would never expect it.
