 Dangers of growing?

What do you guys think the dangers of growing are? (legal dangers)
My friend was a bit worried because he thinks that he'll get caught by some gov't dude whose been watching him.
Do things liek that happen often or are you pretty much safe to grow in your own home as long as its kept pretty quiet?

If you are growing a small amount of mushrooms in a box that isn't clear, and you don't tell anyone about it, you're pretty safe. It's when you start inviting all your friends over to show off that you get in trouble. Don't tell anyone, and when some shroomies magically appear, tell anyone who asks that you found them outside in a secret place

What else do you guys think.
Any sort of reassurance/annecdote would be appreaciated.
Do they generally go after small time home growers like my friend and give people liek him a knock on his door, or is it safe usually?

I notice a lot of people admit to growing on here, is that remotely safe?
Seems liek they woul djust find your IP and your home adress from that and bust you.

I don't grow or anything... hell if the came to my house they would be quite disappointed  . If your doing something illegal, it would be a good you to use a proxy.

Well I dont grow, but my friend does. They could maybe find out through me or something but I doubt it.
I was just wondering though because they're sneaky bastards monitoring what we say etc.

I'm not really worried about growing mushrooms. Perlite/Vermiculite/Canning jars etc are very common in the agricultural area I live in, no real odor is given off from mushrooms unless you have thousands of them growing but you won't be doing that unless you're part of an upscale blackmarket wholesale arrangement.
My advice is:
Grow enough for yourself and a few friends. Don't plan on making money from mushrooms unless you want to go to jail. Do not tell ANYONE that you are growing. I think I need more emphasis on that..
DO NOT TELL ANYONE YOU ARE GROWING MUSHROOMS.
If you do tell someone, it better be someone you would trust your life with. All it takes is one little leak.
So just keep it all quiet, don't overly produce, and don't do anything stupid while on them that will bring attention to you or your house.

- The penalty where I live for growing pot or mushrooms would be a felony, probable jail time, and losing everything you own (car, house, etc. ) So be careful...

Growing a controlled substance is illegal. There is always a risk involved. If someone wishes to take that risk then they have to accept the consequences if they are foolish enough to get caught. Unfortunately, until the laws change this is how it will be.
Only thing I've grown at my house is mescaline-bearing plants. But until they outlaw San Pedro and pull them out of my local nurseries I don't think they can do much to me!
