Point Defiance Area

Anyone ever gone out to the Point Defiance park area and hunted around? I'm wondering if there will just be too many people around and if there are any other aspects that might discourage a person from going.

I have. Didn't find much. The mulchs I saw were cedar and fir rather than Alder.

I DID see many edibles and foragers in the main forest area. Saw a Russian couple 'working' the woods along 5 mile drive.

I know that this is an old thread, but it comes up when you google "mushrooms point defiance".  It is important to know that an Asarco smoke stack was just East of the Point until it was imploded in 1993.  Point Defiance is in line with the usual drift pattern.

I do not recommend eating any mushroom found in Point Defiance Park in fear of the high possibility of extraordinarily high amounts of arsenic and lead likely to be found in the soil and possibly concentrated in the mushrooms.
