Money!!!!
    #3289329 - 10/28/04 02:57 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

You know sometimes you get really unexpected bills?  My husband and I were doing pretty good this month on money, then my kitty got sick.  Here he is:

He started trying to piss but couldn't.  We found out today he has crystals in his urine from a high PH in cat food.  He had to be knocked out and his penis messed with, and now he's on a catheter.  The bill for all this is pretty pricy.  We haven't found out what it is yet, but the nurse at the pet clinic told us it will be "a couple hundred dollars."

Eeeek.  I think we'll have enough to cover it, but an unexpected bill always makes me nervous.  Just wanted to vent a little.  :sun:

very cute kitty  i hope she gets better fast. that sucks about the cash. it's like winning the lotto, except you gotta pay someone else unexpectedly and it's smaller cash  well, anyway, i hope ya win some cash back soon.

yesterday we were going to take my dog to the vet because she was dragging her foot across the ground and she wouldn't walk when we called her. but later on when we came home she was running around.. haha so i don't know what the deal with that was. but im glad she's alright. she's already had a hip replacement and that was done when she was real young.

These types of bills are going to happen often get used to it.

You and your husband should start putting 10% of your gross income away. NO MATTER WHAT IS HAPPING in your daily life. Then when shit like this happens. No biggie

The best money managment is done by having 3-6 months worth of bill money saved. About 10 years ago I went thru a period of mabey 14 months where I lived so broke I was starving. I was making about 800 a week at the time and lived very broke. The result.............

I had huge money in the bank for 9 months worth of bills. I realized the wonderful feeling of living without money worries. It taught me it is ok to live with NO CASH while making cash.

This is the path to full freedom.

It is better to live without while having alot. So when you have nothing you can live with comfort.

Besides by doing it this way when that golden chance comes along to make real cash you have the capital.

I say this all the time

Suffering is the path to freedom

What it is, is what it is my Brother.
It is as it is, so suffer thru it.

Yeah, this has happened to cats in my breeding program before - I had one die from kidney failure about 6 years ago.

I posted this in another thread, but I make my own cat food, thats healthier, cheaper and easy on the insides.

How old was your kitty that got sick?  It usally happens to older cats.  As cats get older they need 'easier' food for their liver/kindeys.  They don't need the same amount of fat as younger cats.  People who have multiple cats need to be careful and not assume that they all need the same nutrients.

Cats don't deal with dyes or food colouring well  or artifical flavors, preservitives. BHT - all death over time to Cats.  Here is what I feed my guys...

16oz Ground Turkey (about $0.89 each, they come in rolls in the meat section)
8oz Zucchini OR Carrots(they are about that size whole you can get 3 for $0.99 sometimes carrots are cheaper)
2cups OATMEAL - any brand, I use bulk quaker oats from the bulk section about $0.70 a LBS)
2cups Water
1/4cup Garlic Powder

Take a pot and stick the ground turkey inside.  Mash it up, mix with water and bring it to a simmer.

Use a potatoe peeler and shread up the Zucchini - toss that it when its at a simmer, and then toss in the oatmeal.

Once you put all the stuff in, heat until it comes to a rollin' boil - then cut the heat and let simmer for a 10-15min.

The turkey wil brown, add more water if needed.

16oz tukey feeds 4 cats,  I do this once a day and they think they are getting the best food in the world

Well, the final bill came out to: $533 dollars.

My kitty looks horrible. They told us to take him home and keep an eye on him. He has a catheter in, an IV patch on his leg and a cone around his head. He keeps stumbling around and breathing heavy, looking miserable. My other cats are going nuts because we have to keep them seperated from him. I just hope it turns out okay.

You say it like they are definatly going to have kids, like everyone should have kids because thats just what you do?

Don't keep spinning the wheel for the sake of it. Don't have kids unless you can gaurentee them a good life.

He went back to the hospital this morning. Hopefully, things will be looking better.
