What do you guess will be the end of mankind?

Honestly and specifically, what do you believe will cause the extinction of humans?
I would bet that nature will take us out first. Maybe nuclear war, but I doubt anyone would get right down to it and kill everybody. A shift in weather or the Earths axis? Maybe disease?
It's pretty hard to guess at what would happen first.
Have any thoughts?

Hopefully Big Bang Version 2.0.

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Systematic destruction of mankind through wars, poverty, starvation, diseases, mass genocides.

I don't believe 'we' will ever be destroyed, or come to any such other similar end. It seems to me that the human species as a whole has been around far longer then even the planet/solar system/etc our own little splotch of existance encompasses. I believe that there are countless other human 'species' in various other parts of existance (and yes, I do mean human specifically...as in not mearly humanoid, but in all actuality identical to us in pretty much every possible way) and that even if 'we' (as the group of beings that inhabit this particular planet) should wind up being destroyed in some manner or another - there would still be so many more other human beings (whether they're still in some sort of cro-magnum type stage, or some sort of super-human form of our evolution, or whatever) that we don't even have numbers high enough to count em all.
and then there's always the idea that even if every single one of these human 'species' somehow became completely wiped out - I still think that other human species would eventually begin popping up again where ever it is that the proper conditions for such a species to arise existed (in short - we are as much an inevitability in the cosmos as the stars themselves as far as I'm concerned)
so no...I don't think it's even possible for human beings as a whole to ever dissapear indefinately

and as far as simply the human race as we know it goes:
I still don't think we'll ever actual be completely whiped out (by any means) I believe we will all eventually reach a point in our evolution where we simply meld our spiritual energy with that of the universe itself, and our 'end' will be more of a total disascosiation from the boundaries we create for ourselves then anything else

I really don't think we'll be wiped out. Knocked down in population? Perhaps. Thrown back, depleted in population to the point shit gets all, well, Mad Max? Well.. perhaps.
But not wiped out. Even with an extremely virulent disease.. there ARE survivors. there ARE those who, somehow, are immune. Some communities in Europe escaped the Black Death unscathed -- somehow, they had a genetic quirk that rendered them mostly immune.
But really.. we are, in general, far too clever to be completely wiped out. it might be hard times for a while, but agriculture's not too difficult a concept -- not crude agriculture at least -- and hunting's not too tough either.. and we really only need two things to survive. One's that food, and the other is people continuing to have sex. I don't see that stopping, either.

the end of all 6.5+ billion human on this globe? or just the collapse of WestCiv? (related Q: what % of world-pop must be deceased (by whatever catastrophe you choose) for the power grid & the net & the stock market & world travel & "efficient" fuel/food distribution, etc. to go the way of the dodo?) (& another Q: what is the optimax world-pop?) ~ humans do not have the means to destroy "all life" on the planet...

I think if mankind ends, it will be of his own doing. No theological judgement day view is really valid imho.
I think our future can probably go two ways;
1) even though we have created problems in this world of famin, energy-crises, human-made/altered diseases, global war threat and the systematic pillaging of nature we manage to keep our species alive through a future of grave uncertainty and spread out finally into space, wehere mankind will be able to colonize planets and therefore escape this so delicate basket of eggs which we as eggs have begun to unravel slowly
2) We end ourselves because of one or a combintation of the abovementioned human misdoings and end up a forgotten footnote in history to come, when new life will evolve and mutate from what remains of the world

A third of the population will be destroyed in a series of conflicts, and many more will die from the use of biological weaponry. When it's over, the remainder of the human population will organize a soceity with a proper view on the sanctity and equality of life, and the importance of respect for the natural environment. Traditional boundries like race, religion, sex and sexual orientation will become meaningless. Bigotry will become marginalized, a thing of the past, anger only at injustice and hatred only for the mistakes of history. As a race we will uncover respect for ourselves and for the earth, and we will live in harmony with ourselves and with the earth so that we may explore inner and outer space in peace.

Every day hundreds of races (fauna and flora) were ireversibly wiped out. So my biggest worry is the singulation of our natural information-pool. For example cancer and allergies will get worse. Specialised deseases will raise. Our food lacks of 'bio-information'. Our life itself will get more and more artificial. Lack of plurality allways leads in crazy mutational intollerance. I don't know if we will survive this... don't think so. So, in long terms, super-egocentricity of humans will wipe out mankind. Before, long times of unbelievable suffering will happen. These times have just begun. Thats the way of nature and g*d, to get rid of us, if we continue our destructive selfish course.

as soon as we use up enough of this planet's resources to make space exploration infeasable, mankind will have no future beyond the scope of planet earth.

"believe that there are countless other human 'species' in various other parts of existance "
why do you believe that?
"we dont have the means to wipe out all life on earth"
true maybe some single celled organisms would survive, but we can come pretty damn close. If the united states and the soviet union had fired there nucleur missiles at each other, billions would have died instantly, destruction of infrastructure and fallout sickness would kill billions more, then the putrified bodies would spread diseases that would pick of the survivors. In fact, according to a documentary i watched on it, the effect of all those explosives going off at once would so deplete the atmosphere that every creature on earth with eyes would be instantly blinded by the suns light, and the sun itself would scorch and kill all flaura and fauna. Basically the earth would be a charred waste land 99.9% unihabitable by life. Even if you were in a nucleur fallout shelter you would simply be cooked alive or suffocated inside it.

I dunno...it's more gut then anything I suppose :shrugs:
I guess it's just because I see like billions of fucken stars when I look up at the night sky and I can't help but think that if our own galaxy evolved the way it did, then chances are there's bound to be other galaxies out there that evolved the same way
maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part (or perhaps even my own theories of existance being truely infinate) but it's just tough for me to imagine something so perfectly balanced with it's environment as the human species (as well as I suppose all the other plants and animals and crap we have on this planet) as being solely unique in a never-ending spectrum of possibilities
