The "American" situation
    #3288559 - 10/28/04 11:43 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Regardless of your ideological bent, many people on here are unhappy
with how things are in America or their state. Some things I have
seen shroomery members express distaste about are fear of terrorism,
a slowly encroaching government, economic calamity because of
government debt, environmental problems, corporations wielding too
much power, too much socialism, or not enough socialism.

To all American shroomery members who have expressed displeasure
with "how things are" and "how things are going to be" I ask these
questions:

Are you going to stay, bitch, and not do anything about it? Are you
going stay and attempt to do something about it? Or are you
going to leave for another area or country?

I just wish we could have elections were they don't have to get lawyers involved. I guess if I lived in a parliamentary country it would be easier because they have those big sweeps.

What's sad is that there are already lawsuits over this election. I don't care who wins, but I assure you that there will be a lawsuit from the loser.

I think it's great here and that the rest of the world would love to have the luxury of whining about what the complainants here bitch about. Perfect? Nah. Declining? Nah, I've heard that for decades and it just gets better. America is truly ascendant and we have no reason to be ashamed of that.

America's a great country. And I will always bitch about it.

I don't think it's in the greatest of shape right now. It's like a heavy weight champ that's started to get out of shape. But I think it's going to begin to move in a good direction within the next 20 years.

At least I hope so. I'll be moving back up towards Niagara Falls pretty soon. If this country ever stalls completely, I'll either revolt or hop over to Canada.
