White buildup on clay pots???

Can anyone ID what this white buildup is on my perekesposis plants pot? I have been watering with a nutrient solution identical to nan's cacti feeding guide with 20-20-20 pete's all purpose. Perhaps these are excess neutrient salts or is it contams? Yes I am referring to the white stuff that's kinda blurry on the outside of the pot. I know it's a pretty bad shot and not in focus.

I think it's some sort of fungus. Clay has a tendency to be a perfect setting for some organisms. A lot of clay pots have that shit, I've never heard or had problems with it. Just clean it once in a while just cause it looks like shit.

It's just excess nutrient salts that stay behind when water evaporates from the clay pot. When it gets real bad, pieces start to flake off. It's ugly but not dangerous.

it could actually be one or the other, depending on the nature of the white build up.
If it's hard, then it's from your water.
If it's fluffy and dies back when touched, it's fungus. Get it off.

If it is fungi im sure its still growing inside the clay. It looks like its just the ferts that are wicked up the pot and evap, too flakey looking to be a fungus. Could we see a pic of the whole plant?

If you look at the top of the pic, you can see both the calcium build ups and the fungus on the inside lip of the pot, the calcium is more yellow. The outside of the pot is more white, where the fungus is. Socratesmind: If you had to scrub hard to get the white stuff off, then it was hard water calcium deposit build up. If it just rubbed off (and was previously fluffy), then it was fungus.
