 Bad Syringe ???

i was just wondering is it possible to get a contaminated syringe because i have a Golden Teacher syringe and i have now innoc.ed 4 jars adn everyone has contamned but i have jars of brazilians, allens, and Puertos in same condition doing fine no contamns so whats the deal shoul i judt throw out the rest of the spores. If not i think im just going to use the rest of the syringe on one jar and hope maybe the myc can out grow the contamn.

try holding the tip of the needle under flame and cleaning it off with rubbing alcohol.. this should do the trick.. if not sorry

agar is used to clean up drity sryinges but i never done that as spores are endlessly renewable

Contam in each of the GT jars, but no contam in any of the others? That definitely sounds like a bad syringe. Toss it.

allright thanks i think ill just pour out the spores cause i needed a syringe anyway to make a spore syringe out of this print i got will running bleachy water through it kill all the left over spores and contamns or should i toss the whole thing

If you have a PC you can just empty out the current spore solution, then cover the syringe in foil and pc it at 15psi for like 20-30 minutes.

Or if you want to do a quick sterilization, what I do is I put a large glass of tap water in the microwave and set it on high for 15 mins. After it's been boiling for 5 mins, take your syringe and heat the needle glowing red. Open the microwave, and carefully pull out the water and stick your needle tip in the water and SLOWLY draw up the water until the barrel is full. Tap out any bubbles and draw up more water until barrel is COMPLETELY full. Replace the water in the microwave and continue boiling. Take the syringe of HOT water and squirt it out all the way in a sink. Wait a minute for the water in the microwave to boil out any contams that may have floated in and get your needle red hot again. Repeat drawing in the water, squirting it out, and heating the needle two (2) more times for a total of three (3) washes. On the 3rd or 4th draw, you can keep the water inside the syringe since it is sterile and use it for making spore solution. Wait for it to cool.
I have done this many many many times and have NEVER had a contamed syringe.

I forgot to mention when you have the hot water in the syringe, wait 30 seconds or so before squirting out.
Also use a LARGE glass for this and add alot of water. A small glass may boil out too much water to sterilize more than one syringe.
Last tip, add some jet dri (sp? -or jet dry) to your water. Not alot, just like 2 or 3 drops to a full glass. I use four to a very large glass. This acts like a wetting agent and keeps the spores from clumping up.
