If you go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Windows Firewall and set it to 'Off', your net connection should behave like it did pre-SP2.

However unless you're behind a broadband router you probably want to leave it on. Make sure you open up any ports that Soulseek uses (through the same Firewall control panel) and your speed should go back to normal.

Switching from Windows is entirely optional .

Peace,

-Y

The SP2 has given me nothing but problems. It seemed to do absolutely nothing but mess my computer up. I decided to uninstall it and everything is back to normal. If you are still having problems just get rid of the SP2. As long as you have virus protection and a firewall, you don't really need the SP2 anyway.

in an attempt to surpress file-sharing, M$ has limited TCP connections with SP2 - this is why file-sharing is slower with SP2. Visit this page: http://www.lvllord.de and download the patcher & use it.
