over watering a casing?
    #3283472 - 10/27/04 11:09 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

a friend cased some colonized rye a few days ago with 50/50 verm coir, and yesterday after he misted it to 'glistening' with 1/10 h202/h20 he noticed that some of the water was running down the sides of the casing...not a lot...but it had turned a brownish color because of the coir....is this something that will cause contams? is he over watering? thanks guys

If it's running down the side you're watering. You want to mist the casing material... you shouldn't water casings. Just so it glistens... not so it has water running on it. GL man

he is misting the casing material. like 30 seconds after he mists some of it can be seen running down the sides into the casing, and it is slightly discolored because of the coir.

Mist lighter maybe? Not sure. I always misted until I saw pins and never ran it down the sides yet. I don't think it would hurt though. If it's only a bit it'll go into the bottom casing layer.
