Instead of highjacking Genius's thread again, I just decided to make a new thread.

The smoke from Alluminum is highly toxic.
Is this true? I always used to use it for pipes and every once in a while I still might have to. Is it really toxic? Hopefully the lighter flame isnt hot enough to melt it...?

Yes, it is true, it is the most toxic common metal. Though a lot of research is done becase there are health issues with long term cannery factory workers. Here is a link that talks about it the toxic levels of aluminium - though, your pepsi can pipe wont kill you - its also not good for you (like smokeing) Some aluminium information

You will go senile from it. They find more levels of aluminum in the human brain as we get older.
Extremely dangerous.
Just say NO.

I wouldnt worry about it, unless you sit there and keep a flame strickly on the aluminum and smoke away, I don't you are under any serious danger. Just think of all the times you have drank out of a popcan, thats made of aluminum and I'll bet you drink some aluminum each time. I would say if you were actually burning aluminum to the point where the flame changes color and you are inhaling toxic gases you are fine.

not senia;, its thought to be linked to alzheimers. not proven as of yet. possible links to parkinsons.
its nice to know that aluminum oxide is been spread in the air to attempt to cool down our summers. alothough i havnt seen as many planes this year.

i saw a news clip once about aluminum foil leaving residue on your food if you use it to cook, basically if you cooked like a turkey and had the foil touching the bird the metal would 'rub off' on the food. the news report didnt go on to mention how bad aluminum is for your body but they showed a magnified view of the skin of the turkey and it had aluminum all over it. they said to not leave the foil in contact with food and heat for long time periods. i bet saran or some aluminum foil company would debate this. email them it would be funny.
and yes aluminum has been linked to alzheimers, like from your antiperspirant deodorant, but how are you supposed to smell good. i figure smell good now suffer later.
and everyone on this site pretty much seems to agree that metals suck, maybe stainless but glass is so much better.
just my 20 cents peace
