That sure does not look like any liberty cap i ever saw. In fact it looks more like a panaeolus species or panaeolina foenisecii. The stem and context of the flesh of the cap do not resemble that of p. semilanceata.

I am fairly sure it is not a pan foen.

There is blueing on the stem, which you might be able to see. Its near the bottom. The gills are adnexed, and the spore prints were a distinct dark puple.

Here is another picture to help. notice the blueing in this particular specimen

When I saw the first pic I thought that the surface of the cap was a bit weird... also the caps in Libs are usually taller. I actually found something similar yesterday.... I'm going to post id request tomorrow for it.

edit: here are the pics... I post the id request tomorrow...

That is not a liberty cap. Take a picture of the spore print.

Not sure... at least in your pic the stem is much thicker.

Thanks for showing the gill structure. That is definitely not a P. semilanceata. Most likely it is Psilocybe uda.

Here is an image and the gill structure is similar. the color changes to that pale straw color look on your psilocybe specimen is the hygrophanous reaction of the genera psilocybe.

Now you post a second l image which does resemble a b liberty cap but that 1st image is not a liberty cap.

mj.

I do not think that shrom was P. semiglobata.

'cos I've picked thousands of Liberty Cap mushrooms here in the UK and can spot one from 20 yards away, with both hands tied behind my back and one eye closed....AND with the added distraction of a small dwarf prodding me in the shin with a sharp stick shouting 'look at me, don't look over there...look into my eyes' and STILL find the little feckers....

that is my justification.
