Hydroton or Geolite (aka leca stone?)
    #3279226 - 10/26/04 01:56 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Ok, after many suggestions I am going to go with a PMP. Was wondering which of these I am going to want to use and how much I will need for a 31 gallon tub. (is 31 gallon too large?)

Option 1) This is leca stone, seems similar to hydroton or geolite.

Option 2) Your basic run of the mill hydroton.

Also, do you need to mist pmp's, or is this not necessary? Thanks in advance for help.

LECA and hydroton/Geolite are all the same product, marketed as LECA its
used in teh concrete industry and is extremely cheap

as for misting, you shouldnt need to but its a good idea to keep an eye on your
humidity and mist as needed

I dunno about the leca stone, but i can tell you that 31 gallons isn't too big. The bigger the tub the more you can fit in there is my thought. I got a mix of hydroton and lavarock just cause i didn't order enough hydroton. It works well for me. For a 31 gal. i'd get at least 10-15 Liters of hydroton. I got 10 but my tub is like a 60 gallon or so. I occasionally mist but its not that big of a deal in my situation.
