My ego and God...
    #3279208 - 10/26/04 01:52 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Sometimes I feel as if the only two individuals are myself and God. Everything else, which is separate from me, is more of God. What does this mean?

Maybe give up the 'ego' to remember your constant connection to God.

I dunno exactly what you mean though

What is separate from you are the pieces of you yet to be re-membered as you also into ONE with you as that is a GOD unto its own-not the all that is and will be and was. Good luck capturing that in one mouthful or thought.

me being the you?
myself being perceived?

Interesting...I figured my question was simple, but the responses seem vague or confusing.

I do not sense any sort of connection or one-ness with the universe and all it has to offer. I feel my existence, occassionally detect God's alleged existence, and nothing more. Does this sound like the perspective of an arrogant person?

That's for you to label yourself.

Not arrogant at all in my view.

Your experience is all you know in this form, and there are no guidelines to adhere to. Whatever floats your boat

I wouldn't call it arrogant at all either. From my view, I would just call it isolating, but for you, it may be comforting????????????

Like def said, whatever floats your boat.

I fell the exact same way. It feels like everythign in my life is some sort of fake installment. But it'so strange and fake, that sometimes i think this "god" I notice is like a TV show executive, becuase my life is some sort of show. Everyone seems to be so much more connected, I don't know how to explain it.

why?
Water reaches its goal by flowing continually. It fills up every depression before it flows on. The superior man follows its example; he is concerned that goodness should be an established attribute of character rather than an accidental and isolated occurrence. So likewise in teaching others everything depends on consistency, for it is only through repetition that the pupil makes the material his own??

Should I consider it as isolation though? I don't willingly see life this way, it's more of an involuntary idea that developed. I figure isolation is an intended action.

I'd like to elaborate further on this. I don't necessarily believe that I am the sole existing person. I understand other people exist, but it seems like others' existence is on a different level. It seems as if there is God, myself, and people...but people are the peripheral parts of God.

I'll try to use an example. Let's say I'm the wide receiver of a football team. I would consider God as the feild and ball, and the other players as a peripheral extension of God. Does that make sense?

That's because you're right.. the ball, the field, the other players, they're all part of god.

The mistake lies in the seperation you're making between yourself and all else.

This seperation is false, it is an illusion created by the ego.

Think about this... if each of those other players, to you, is a peripheral extension of god, then you HAVE to be as well, because each of those other players has their own ego creating the same illusion for them. So put yourself in the shoes of one of the other players for a moment, and then view yourself from their eyes. You are the same peripheral extension of god that they are. Your ego simply creates a false sense of individualism.

""I'll try to use an example. Let's say I'm the wide receiver of a football team. I would consider God as the feild and ball, and the other players as a peripheral extension of God. Does that make sense?""

or,.. you could consider God as the field and ball, and the other players as a peripheral extension of God, and you as an spectator of the whole fotball arena?

JC's answer you may relate to better. So many ways to look at this and answer your question.

I used the word isolated. I meant that I see you as being isolated from your own self, your godself. You make the all that is , the creator, separate from you.  :crying:

Thats being out in the cold dark to me.

The all that is can't know itself by itself. How can it know itself if it is only one conscious entity submerged in a sea of nothing? How can it realise it's potential of what it can become without a format for acting its ideas and abilities?

So it individuated itself. It didn't stay it and then make us. It individuated itself. There is no us AND it. We are it and it is us. You will never find IT outside of anything. IT is everything.

Everyone out there to you that are the periphial extentions of IT, they are your mirrors, and co actors, co creators.

Granted, we only experience a small portion at a time of the all that is. This is so we can know our essense down to the smallest details. Granted, somewhere along the way, the idea came up to program in forgetfullness. This way we could become independent thinkers.

When we were one mind individuaized, we all thought the same. Now that we think we are not one, we are free to think independently.

This was brilliant. This is where efficiency of productivity comes in. Now there are billions of us all thinking independently instead of as one. We are realising ourself and creative potential at exponential rates now.

I could babble on an on.

Did anything make sense to you? If not rephrase a question.  Maybe someone else has words or concepts you can relate better to. ????

God and Ego are incompatible.

There is no Thou but Thou.

When one becomes God, they are in union. Union is the secret to being a slave of Love. Ego seperates the self from God.

JC, Perfect response. I forgot to look at this from a different angle (which is why I posted the question), so your tip added a new element.

Zahudulllah said "Ego seperates the self from God." I actually wonder if the opposite could be true. Perhaps God also has an ego, or we are a part of it. Check out my "Praise God" thread for further speculation.
