well, you'll have to be the judge, but #1 reason for stalled jar is too much water.

Anytime I've used to much water my stuff got attacked by Bacillus. You might want to attempt draining some out.

Always mix water into verm first that way you can't over do it.

Sorry, KronnyQ. I don't agree with you on your water adding method. I suggest you stick to scientific method and measure them out on a $1.98 measuring cup. 1/4 cup BRF, 1/2 cup Verm, 60cc water. Eyeballing the water content isn't really exact science, you know.

Isn't it far superior to slowly add the water to the Verm so that you can get it perfectly saturated and no more? It seems adding ratios will introduce more error.

GL with the jar

No, you don't really want full saturation. Full saturation would mean if you touch it at all, water will come out. That's way too much. What you need is enough water to make it through colonization on the full swing of growth. I'm confident 50cc of water is more than enough. But i still recommend 60cc per max fruiting formula.(I'll be doing an experiment with 14 jars to see what's best for PF cake)

Previously, the PF Tek was designed so ALL the water for growing mushroom came from the cake and the atmoshese(high RH in the terrarium). This is no longer true. We dunk(replenish water completely to max saturation after colonization), roll or double end case(provide a port so we can keep replenishing water supply to cake). The idea of putting most amount of water in the cake when preparing substrate(this was for longevity and yield concerns) does not apply anymore.

What you want to concentrate on is that there is enough water and not too much so that the mycelium is healthy as possible at birth.

well... on top of that, since you aren't going full saturation, you are eyeballing the water content. It'll always be more inaccurate. I always bake my cookies by measurement.

I would not try to drain them. If they stall..flip them. Any water moisture left (excess) will go to the bottom (which was the top) and be soaked up by the dry verm layer.

On the BU jars I've flipped before, there was heavy condensation on top. Probably because water is lighter than air(water vapor). I put the jars on there sides once condensation got too much.
Good Luck

I notice since u are using glasses u live in a place where there are no jars.
i always notice people not living in the usa have trouble finding jars.
either jars are somewhat difficult to find.
or u dont have the brainpower to be able to find such a thing as a "Jar"

I dont get it.
did u pressure cook just one glass?

Easy, easy! No need to trade insults. We all have stuff we can't find. I don't have ball or kerr jars either. Had to improvise, myself. And I know subgen1us gives very good advices.

I'll take the blame for hijacking the thread. I'm good at hijacking threads.
