The substrate INNOCULATION

OK.. well Zeus is trying to grow some mushrooms... he's trying to take over yet another responsibility.. so he hasn't tried this before, y'know?

The piece of paper he brought into wal-mart read,

12 Wide Mouth Quart Canning Jars
5 LB Bag of Finch Seed ( Perringtons )
5 LB Bag coarse Vermiculite
2 Gallons of Mineral Water
Large Pressure Cooker capable of holding jars at 10-15psi
A Large Multi-Gallon Bowl

1) Soak Finch Seed in the water for 12 hours, then dump out water
2) Add enough water to cover the seed and simmer (LOW TEMP) for 1 hour
3) Let cool for an hour, Add the seed to a large bowl, and add vermiculite
4) Keep adding vermiculite until there is no more water pooling in bottom of bowl.
5) Mix well, and using a fork, fill quart jars 2/3 full with the mixture.
6) Add any remaining water to the jars.

By the way.. I meant Penningtons brand of Finch seed, not Perringtons..
