What would be the best way to innoculate these bags? I was thinking about a multi-spore innoculation. 1 syringe per bag. Thoughts?

Best Way?... In my opinion, a SINGLE rhizomorphic strain (in honey water suspension) isolated from previous batches of shrooms(after determining which is most potent) would be used to innoculate. Nice bags... Keep us updated!

I agree completely......use mycelium solution with tested high fruiting strain......and keep us updated!!!

I must disagree about the inoculation of honey water UNLESS you are positive you can do it with 0% Contamination--otherwise but a syringe and multi-spore inoc. those filter bags are fun and give you a lot of substrate Please post picks as to your progress.

yes. Dmitri has a good point. You obviously don't want to introduce contamination into your nice giant bags. If you are confident in your suspension and inoculation techniques, then do a single strain innoculation(these IMO tend to fruit much better with better yeilds than multispore). If you are not sure about the cleanliness of your innoculum, you should then do a multispore innoc, as Dmitri said

nesta.. They're called filter patch bags. The patch is a filter for gas exchage. Those are the largest the Fungi Perfecti offers. I got them for making woodchip blocks to fruit gourmets & polypores from. However, I went a little crazy w/ the birdseed presoaking so I went ahead and made these monsters. foaf normally uses rye. Just clearing some shelf space in the storage room, needed to get rid of the birdseed. I'm really hoping for a colossal colonization and not catostropic contamination. The pic is before pressure cooking. I cooked 'em one at a time for 150 min. I don't really have time to expand any isolates. The seed is ready now. I guess the only choice is multispore. So which strains do well on birdseed?

I am not giving Ryche a plug but "clyde" uses finch seed so tehhawkseye.com spores are familiar with finch seeed and would germinate a little faster.

foaf was going to use syringes from two different vendors to spread the risk a little. He's thinking 3M's EQs and Ryche's B+. Allrighty, here goes nothing..

good luck. don't use too much of those syringes per bag. you don't want to add too much moisture. on the other hand, i guess with that much seed, you could probably add quite a bit of water without it being too much... so, scratch that... keep us updated.

If it were me I would crumble 2-3 Rhizo looking BRF cakes into a FINE powder, open the bags in a glovebox/oven and sprinkle the powder and shake. Definetly much quicker and more reliable then spores, especially on birdseed. Afoaf has never had any luck germinating spores on BS. In fact, fuck ........he has never had any luck at all. Good luck to you, and if it does wind up working, please post where you got the BS or what brand it is. I have tried 4 types...... all wet spotted.

Mr P.. "your day is gonna come." I know what you mean about crumbling, except I don't have anything to crumble right now. In fact, I'm not sure why I asked for advice as my options were pretty limited. PC.. Got the cam (HP C618; sweet!) about 2 weeks before drool donkey hit the dirt. I call it "my fourth eye." ;)
