fruiting millet invitro
    #3277261 - 10/25/04 11:33 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

While I'm searching can someone come up with some working links on invitro. I have a few quarts of white millet colonized and don't have the means of making casings/fruiting chambers. Now that my quarts are colonized I just have to give them light and wait? Will millet fruit invitro?

Why did you use millet if you knew you couldn't make a casing!?

It certainly will work invitro. Give it some light somewhere and store it about 75 degrees. Harvest when fruits mature.

I would only fill the jar about 1/3 of the way if I was gonna use it strictly for invitro...you may also wanna mix some verm into it for added water and give it a cold shock when your ready to fruit

Well the plan was to case but in my current situation I can't, not having internet really blows also. The jars are quarts filled 1/2-2/3 full, they lost there incubator a week after getting knocked up. They've been sitting in the dark untouched for the last month and a half. I started giving them light for a few hours a day for a week or so ago. Am I supposed to give them air, the thought of in-vitro seemed like it would be fail safe if I don't have to open the jars adding verm is a no go, too late in the season, I'd have to order it now. Links would be great(pms please) but I only get online once in a while... :frown:    I'll be back eventually, keep on shroomin  Iamthewalrus, thanks for that bit of inspiration, I hope all goes well

No air needed..just light and 75 degrees. I promise..just leave them like that and mushrooms will grow. You just started giving them light. Expect pins 2-4 weeks after light started..I'm sure they'll be fine!

I hope it does, only time will tell, 7 quarts of millet should be used alot differently.... If I don't get pins soon, I may be able to use it as spawn, I'd much rather do that

Well I was doing some cleaning and I discovered 3 liters of sterilized straw. What would be the best way to use it since I sterilized rather than pasteurize
