Cyans in the yard...
    #3276779 - 10/25/04 09:49 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

How realistic and productive is it to place alder chips around one's property? Say there were enough nutrients and the right enviroment around... (Northern California, North of Bay Area) And expect some psilocybe cyanescens?

It's been done successfully many times. Check the cultivation forum.

Good luck!

I think it's realistic, but maybe someone more experienced to explain how to spread wood chips in the spring and have fruits in the fall.

Most cyan spots are in decaying chips, and it would be pretty damn unlikely that they would just pop up, but chances are there.

But if one were to find them, and transplant myclium in his or her property with alder woodchips, watering in the drier months, you would most definatly see fruits next fall.

Sounds good, it all sounds good. I don't suppose anyone has heard of Cyans being abundant in the Mendocino County area, have they? This is my location and although I could cultivate mushrooms I'd also like to partake in hunting for them, but I'm having difficulties. Thanks

Yeah, most of the wood chips where I find cyans are at least a couple years old. Maybe three.
