October 25 - successful afternoon hunt
    #3276536 - 10/25/04 08:41 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

The day began with a fender bender but the hunt itself went well. Borealis had done some research and we scoped out some nice areas. Unfortunately I exceeded my upload limit already. The rest of the photos will be posted tomorrow. ID's please!

Let's start with the massive Cyan patches..

Pins galore:

A mixed patch:

A small grouping hiding under a fern:

A hot little standalone:

A puff patch:

ID?

Nice finds.  :mushroom2:

The first ID? looks to be Stropharia Ambigua, although that scaling? is throwing me off.  The next to are some form of Agaricus, look like the Xanthoderma I have been finding, which wouldn't be edible but that is just a guess.

Peace

Yea... so sorry about the bumper thing. It was a good adventure nonetheless. Slim pickens when the cyans look so much like leaves. Some rain will help that. I'll add some pics of our outing too. Overall.. pretty successful.  The really big ones were shaggy lepotia, right panel of experts? Do people eat them I wonder?

Some more things green !!!:)

It's too dry for this little guy.

I'm really curious about these big aqua-blue green things.

And red. An Ambiguious stropheria patch.;)

Some health boys.

Nice to meet you BP.. :wink:more to come.

Hmm... I don't see any Lepiota.
The blue-green ones I'm not sure about but it looks as if they could be stropharia aeruginosa which I have never seen. The red ones go by many names but I think the most accepted ones are Hypholoma/Stropharia aurantiaca.

Peace

Nice finds BitterPill. Did you happen to check any of the spots that we checked the other day? I'm curious if any of those patches we found have been discovered by others.

By the way...the last pic looks like Agaricus augustus. That pic looks like that cluster we came across before.

I have Wednesday and Thursday off. not sure if I'll have the car, but we'll see. Would like to go out again soon.

Shroomie- how far south in Cali do you live? I've heard that Cyans Don't grow any lower than San Fran.

Trick- Thanks for the positive feedback. That's my favorite pic too.

Mycoguy- We tried to stick to areas we had never seen, so I didn't get a chance to check on the park we found those at.

Yeah they must be Augustus, it is a mighty cool looking mushroom.

Ring me up next time you want to go.

Those are pretty cyans. I like the ones which lost their color. Very cool. Good find.

Just a few more..

These Cyans were so dry they blended in with the leaves and woodchips. Squint and you'll see them

A few days too late for these:

Another pic of the green stropharia:
