The genera is called Pholiota, not philiota. And the species originally described as Pholiota spectabilis was later renamed t as Gymnopilus spectabilis, and belongs to the genera Gymnopilus and know is known as G. junonius.

G. spectabilis contains kavatones and some psilocibine. 13 species of Gymnopilus contain psilocine and/or psilocybine.

But Pholiota genera does not contain active engredients.

Looks like a Pholiota. Cap features (scales/warts ect) and gill color is consistant with that genus. The spore print should come out brown (but not rust colored).

edit: the first couple pics look different from the last, culd they be two different species, I suspect that they are just very old and hydrated honeys in the first shot?????This isthe one I really thought resembled Honeys
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/bmarley343/DSCN2063.jpg

To me, and remember folks Im a novice, those appear to be Armillaria mellea (aka Honey Mushroom). Spore print should be white, stem shoud be very tough and fibrous...with a pith-like center. Honey mushrooms give some people upset stomachs, they are not active of course, but when cooked well they resemble the taste of Shitake. Ive tried some, but given the reasonable price on store bought shitakes and their assured safety to ALL, I wont bother with Honeys anymore.

Course i could be wrong so dont eat those thing regardless until someone with more experience answers.

Your photos look like two different species to me. The scaly capped ones look like Pholiotas, but the others could be a lot of things. Pholiota is a possibility, but so is Cortinarius.

Did you pick some and bring them home? To get IDs you need to be able to answer questions about them you probably didn't think of while in the field.

Do you have spore print colors for them? Good views of the underside of the mushroom would help, too.

Happy mushrooming!

The ones in the first three photos look like old Gyms. The rest are Pholiotas. Are they the same mushrooms?

I can see that those pics look a lot alike.
Photos arent always enough, especially when they only show parts of the mushroom. notice here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/bmarley343/DSCN2063.jpg the gill color appears to be brown.
Honey mushrooms have whitish gills and drop white spores.
This confusion could have been avoided if a spore print color was provided.

Hard to tell what color those gills really are but they look "buff" to me, not brown...the gills on honeys will darken slightly with age.
I refereing to the last 3 or 4 shots only. Those caps sure do resemble honeys. I agree a spore print would clear this up.....
Dont leave us hangin marley the suspense is killin me...hehe.

This cap is just screamin at me..."I am a honey mushroom!"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/bmarley343/DSCN2062.jpg

but as i said Im a novice, just got done dealin with hundresd of Honey mushrooms tho so its fresh in my mind...need more info tho..ahem Marley.
