and it was the absolute worst book ---> movie job i have ever seen! granted there only about 4 movies i have seen after reading the book it was based on but in those it was decently done. There was soooo much left out of the movie i don't see how it would make any sense to someone who hadn't read the book, i mean everything was just left out and assumed you already knew what everything was, yeah they only have two hours but they could have used the time much better, at least add some narritive comment to explain some key aspects of the whole book. wasted 2 hrs of my life on that piece of garbage, at least julia was naked a lot. anybody else see it? what'd you think? any other horrible book ---> movie translations you've seen?

I've been wanting to see the movie. Why do you think it's the absolute worst book?

no no no, Great book, Horrible movie. i say that because every detail is left out, they don't explain anything about goldstein he just gets brought up in the middle of the movie and your susposed to know the story behind him. basically it goes winston meets julia, they have lots of sex, and then the shit at the old mans store goes down, and the movie does a decent job (this is the exception) going over detail in the ministry of love, then it ends. it dosn't even tell you about the telescreens or that they can see you or all the stuff the party does, it left out 85% of the book.

oh i didn't understand the ---> in your post. That sucks, I was hoping it would have been a decent movie. I can't believe they left out the telescreens, maybe it's not even worth watching....

Yeah, Terrible movie. really absolutely bad.
I didn't even like the nudity, the whole movie just had this 70's/80's grime all over it

Saw it too expecting something good... I fell asleep and was happy to have missed a good part of the movie.

The worst screen adaptation of a book I've ever seen is Less Than Zero, based on the book by Bret Easton Ellis.
Read the book, then watch the movie. It's very strange that someone would take such a harshly graphic book, and change it into a boring Hollywood cliche anti-drug movie.

I get pissed off when Philip K Dick books get adapted. They always become these crappy blockbusters. Bladerunner is the exception.
A Scanner Darkly is currently being made with Keanu Reeves starring.

1984 is such a great book, I would imagine it would be hard to fit all of the details into a couple hours of movie.
Of course, I have not seen the movie so maybe I don't have much room to talk.
But the book! Oh the book is incredible. I actually only read it for the first time a couple months ago. It is AMAZING how applicable that book is to politics. It was applicable back in the 40s all the way through today.
Our political system sucks.
