Creeper is my new favorite strain
    #3272533 - 10/24/04 06:20 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

I had some jars, inoculated with creeper, that were doing horribly, even after more than two weeks of sitting in a closet. A few stringy patches of mycelium growth, nothing more, even a patch of trich in one and I think some bacterial growth also. I should mention that we kept the house about 75 degrees and did not heat the jars at all. Well, my partner in growing put the jars outside, still in the bin we were incubating them in. This being east Texas, the weather is very warm during the day and fairly warm at night too.

Well... after being put outside for a couple of days, the creeper has simply EXPLODED! Most of the jars are headed up on 50% colonization, they are all cracking popcorn kernels open faster than they can fully metabolize the nutrients -- I deduce this because the red "dye" from the corn is still highly visible. In the jar that had the trich patch, the mycelium is busily containing it and the trich is actually dying off!

I guess I can't describe the amazing comeback this strain has made with only a simple temperature fix. I know creeper has a good reputation but DAMN! I'm very happy about this development and I wanted to share my excitement, as well as the amazing fact that it's actually beating the shit out of and killing a highly aggressive mold.

I couldn't have got where I am right now without the shroomery, a little luck, patience, and, God bless it, the creeper strain. Highly encourage it.

Sporeworks might not carry it. Its a controversal strain, the person who named it just renamed another unknown cubie strain.. The Keeper..

Great to hear you reiterate what I tell people all the time optimum RULES!!! As far as everything from lightling to temp It can make all the difference in the world and anyone who says different well we don't have to go there as you have already seen. Like I also always say "Those who know know those don't won't" plain and simple.
I also liked the prolific flushes from Creeper but I wasn't impressed with the hype they advertised about it I didn't find it all that rapid of a colonizer compared with many strains as I've seen other strains rip thru substrates twice as fast. still all in all a good beginner strain that will hook ya!

The Kreeper strain sounds like it grows nice, but after reading that blue meanie thread eightball posted, it's hard to respect strains that were originally renamed and overpriced by that jerk at stp. which one did this originate from?
