"There's no easy trip."
    #3274252 - 10/25/04 05:43 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

A few months ago, my husband asked his father if he would like to trip with us. My father-in-law was really big into shrooms when he was younger. However, when asked to trip, he responded with, "There's no easy trip, son."

Do you agree or disagree with that?

I also disagree, i've had many trips that were so careful and flowing that I never wanted it to end.

I agree. It'd be different if he said "There's no such thing as a good trip."

If you do have a good trip, everything rolls around fine, it 1) still taxes your body & mind 2) often leaves you contemplating 3) sometimes contemplating too much 4) maybe he tripped out too much?

It could be. He was a huge hippie back in the day.

Anyway, I sort of agree with him. While I've had many trips that have been flowing with blissfulness, I still would never call them "easy" trips. The best trips for me are the ones in which I am challenged and tested, and working through issues while tripping is never easy, although it can often be rewarding.

It's all fun and games till someone loses an I

admit it, puns are great
there really isn't a such thing as an easy trip. they exist, but they're not guarenteed.. and for me at least, seem to be less and less frequent the more I trip.
And even if things go well.. it's taxing physically, mentally.. for me at least.
I haven't tripped in a year and a half, and am debating doing it again. I know I probably will, but not now. Right now I've still got memories of previous trips in mind.. once they fade I'll try again. Sometimes it's better to hold on to good memories than make new ones.

Got a question about a substance?  Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the  mushroom experience? The  Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before.

he prolly had a hard time with his ego(which is perfectly normal and necessary, i say) which is what shrooms is all about, dissolving ego to see the truth.

Holy shit, what a great quote.  Can I use that in my sig??

And I think you're right.  My father-in-law probably got a kick in the ego and stopped tripping because of that.  Personally, I *LIKE* it when my ego get's put in line by the mushies.

I've had easy trips, some that don't even get me thinking that much, just seeing shit.

^Agreed. I have had my share of "easy" trips mostly due to setting. But like someone said, they become less frequent the more I trip. I disagree with what your father-in-law said.

well,
if you eat a gram or less,
it is an easy trip
but yeah sometimes you can even have an intense ones with less

anyway but imo 'the trip' is like 3.5 gr+
with lots of visuals, mind blowing experiences...
they are not easy for sure

I thought that thinking part comes first, then hallucinations and deeper thinking comes with that.

The only easy trip Ive had was my first one. No anxiety or uncomfortable feelings, it was probably one of the best nights of my life. Some of the best visuals ive ever had too. Once you know just what shrooms can do to you its like your cursed with anxiety on the come up of every trip after
