slow ass wbs
    #3272449 - 10/24/04 07:57 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I inoculated 3 1 quart jars last weekend with about 3cc each of EQ. Today they just barely show signs of growth. They are in my incubator at 80 or so with a bunch of cakes that are speeding right along. I think theyll turn out fine in a few weeks, but I thought this was goin to take 11 days like the teks say. Any suggestions as to why theyre draggin ass?

Water content.Been playing with wbs for about 3 months. You need to play with water content.I soak 24 hr's,drain 30 min's and then let dry another 30 min's.This got me fully colonized in 14 days.Only shook once at about 20%.GL

WBS hasn't been the easiest sub. to conquer for my pet - seems to dry and scorch really fast in the PC. Had trouble getting enough agua into the grains. A more recent attempt looks much better.

I think that WBS is pretty fricken useless, I don't understand the obsession with it, just buy some millet instead...millet is the key ingredient in WBS so why even fuck around with bird seed when you can just straight millet? I don't understand

Whats even funnier to me is that analized tek that has like 10 steps to extract the millet from WBS, roofles.

I used Parakeet birdseed, which is like 90% millet from my source. Have 4 quart jars colonizing now, we'll see how it goes.

Easier to get WBS for me. The stuff I get consists of milo, white millet and wheat. I'd say it is 70% white millet. The other 30% just makes the jars more colorful IMO.  :stoned:

Yea thats what I figured, it probably is a lot easier to get ahold of than millet, but I usually just buy all my substrate online so I aint got no probs

Your jars are gonna take off quick now that they are showin signs. Sometimes it just takes a bit for germination to start.

theaquaman54 you were right. The mycelium has tripled in size since yesterday. Looks like they may be ready in a week or two. Man was I worried. Wonder why they took so darn long to germinate. thanks all.
