Anyone else fancy a trip to a cake shop?
    #3271357 - 10/24/04 12:34 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

I have read the guides that show how to make the sterile cake for injecting with spores etc.

Is it not possible for a shroom company to produce this medium on a mass scale and sell these sterile jars for ?1 or so? I can't be bothered with the hassle, can't risk being caught doing wierd things in the kitchen, but don't want to pay ?20 for a kit each time.

Also, under clinical conditions, companies could argue that their mass produced cakes are more reliable than homemade ones.

I'm new to this, so this might seem to be the most stupid idea ever, but could it work, at least in theory?

There is at least one sponsor that sells that very thing... can't remember who it is.

Cool!

Anyone know of a supplier in the UK? (or even US - I could import if I had to).

Psilocybe Fanaticus, it was a guy who pioneered through mushroom cult. I think he went to jail though.

Yep, that was the one I tried. It links to 'Sporegasm', a great company and just what I need but it trades with US only.

Yes I do. That's why I asked if anyone primarily knew of any UK suppliers.

if you can't be bothered with the hassle, this hobby may not be for you. it's just that very 'hassle' of tinkering and experimenting that adds to the fun for me.

Hi,

I'm very excited about growing mushrooms, have read lots of guides, have spent ?150 on equipment, enjoy using shrooms every weekend, and have a couple of 'kits' on the go. However, I do also have a full time job, busy social life, and most importantly a responsibility to ?1200 month/worth flatmates who will leave if they catch me boiling jamjars or doing other weird stuff in the kitchen.

If you enjoy tinkering with different solutions to find the best sterile media to work with, then that's great - I would love to do that as well. However, practicality means I just need to buy some sterile media to get things started in my bedroom.

fair enough. shame about the flatmates - they're bound to notice something eventually, though.

reassure them that growing is LEGAL in the UK, and good luck. us UK shroomerites shoould stick together - feel free to pm me if i can help.
