I sincerely hope no one choses the Under 18 option...

Where is the "over 70" category?

I plan on dying young. (not really)

If I'm still here in 40 years, I give you full permission to chastize me all you want. If you're not around anymore...well you've got some haunting to do.

I designed the options by trying to distinguish the diferent stages of consciousness (ex. narrow or open mind), and that is why I feel that people over 51 years of age tend to have made their mind up. Not all, but I feel the majority of them. Untill now we have most of the people on 18-24.

Trendal, not a nice first comment, you may have discouraged some people under 18 to vote and instead they may think,
"oh next year I'll be 18, it's the same thing, I'll put 18". Anyway why are you hoping that?

Careful, your bias is showing. Age has little to do with narrow mind/open mind. Mental rigidity occurs at all ages.

I think that your bias is showing swami as it has done before. I was talking about statistics derived from many peoples personal experience and I made it clear by saying "I feel". Why do I have to explain it again?

Anyway why are you hoping that?

Because if anyone admits to being under 18 I/the Admin have no choice but to ban the member until they are 18...

Actually I very much so wish that you hadn't included the option at all. What's done is done, though, so I can only hope that no one forces our hand

Nice comingling of anecdote and statistics which mix as well as oil and water. Please reference the studies. Don't make me hit you with my cane.

Hehe, reference the studies? Do I have to say it for the third time? Read what I wrote. There are no studies. It is a general feeling derived from the experience of many people. That is it. And swami, please take off this reference studies shield you are wearing, it doesn't suit you. If you want to wear it I suggest you reference yourself first. I will say it again. I will exlpain it over and over again even if it was clear from the begining. A lot of peoples experience. If I say that teenagers tend to pass through a rough period that radically changes and forms or even transforms their characters, will you also need a reference study? I am an engineer, I tend to reference my studies but ffs you are asking for reference in every thread!
Oh, and before you write what you are going to write I want a reference based on scientific studies that you wrote it and not somebody else.

I was talking about statistics.

Um, statistics are collated from studies. Sorry for using the English language as it was designed. Let's all just make up new meanings as we go. That will enable us to communicate better.

Accuracy works much better than repeating the same error.

I am an engineer
Then you should know better than the average poster.

To quote my Grandpa:
"You'll be old someday."

--------------------
"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

It definitely is true that a lot of teenagers tend to pass a rough period of time when they "leave the nest" (some, of course, don't), but a lot of teens have already had their way of thinking set in stone, and these new experiences might not have so much of an impact on them... generally, I don't think it is possible to be able to leave this as anything more than a vauge generality, (generally, blah blah blah, vauge generality  ) because it is definitely something that depends on the individual person, as a lot of young adults might not be open to new experiences or even experience radically different situations....

I solidfy this stance by pointing out that everyone at every age will be faced with out of the ordinary (as compared to their past) experiences that can produce a signifigant change in their way of thinking and their personalities... death of loved ones, rare oppurtunities, meeting new people, visiting new places, close brushes with death, etc. etc. etc... The oppurtunity for fresh, awakening change is always there for everyone at every age, and sometimes it does not matter whether they are open to change or not: the change will force them to open.

I do find it interesting to determine the age distribution here at S and P, it is certainly a nice thing to know, but, again, I don't think it will offer much more than a vauge generality, and I personally don't hold generalities when they apply to people very highly....

TO consider something else for a second, age distribution here in this forum is probably not going to accurately represent how open- or closed-minded people of different ages are, even if only for this particular forum, as there isn't really enough users here fully representing different age brackets.... not only that, but almost everyone here is avid about psychadelic usage, which means that everyone here is likely to have a greater tendency to a more "open mind" (as psychadelics often provide one with an experience free of mental barriers, an open perspective, if you will - not that they necessarily keep such a perspective afterwards, but it is an experience not shared with a wide majority of other people, thereby creating a noticeable distinction).

Anyways, ja, it is interesting (and not surprising) to know that a little under three-quarters of the people here are between 18 and 24 years of age (I should have voted 18 and under to fuck with Trendal! *creates a puppet to vote under 18 to do so* :smirk:)
