The first time I ever used it, it worked just fine. The second time I used it it leaked steam between every wingnut. The directions say a little is normal and should get better through use, so I tried it again and the same thing. Its not a little leak either.
I'm within my 1 year warranty, should I contact them? If it turns out it needs to be RMA'd am I looking at paying the shipping on it?

I start with all of them loose but ready to be tightened. Then do two opposite ones just a little bit and go in a circle until they are all equally snug.

Yep, that's the proecedure. Strange.
You didn't like throw it in a bath of cold water in an attempt to cool it down quicker or anything did you? lol...
I'd keep messing with it. When I put my lid on, I always push it down and turn it back and forth a few times to help it seal, and then tighten it down.

No didn't put it in water or anything. Normal use. I'm pretty pissed though, that thing is like a fucking tank. There is no way it should be that gimpy.

I use my finger tips in the side gaps at 180 degrees apart then flip those two wing nuts and lightly snug then turn the unit 90 degrees and use my finger tips again flip and lightly snug those two wing nuts after this I flip them all and do the same. Now you did line up the marks on the cover and base right?

Yeh the arrow is on the line. The only thing I can think of is the first time I did 1/2 pt jars and the two other times I used qt jars so the water level was higher. I don't think that was a problem because it the problem didn't get better as time went on.
Normally I wouldn't care but I'm having a hard time reaching 15 psi and I don't want to run out of water and mess things up worse.

have you tried using petrolium jelly around the rim where the lid seats,
the manual recomend it, its good to prevent the mating pieces from galling
and helps it to get a better seal

All AA's are tested before they leave the factory and the first time it worked so unless you warped it it has to be something simple like not snugging down the wing nuts enough perhaps? Petroleum jelly is definitely always a good idea too! GL

im almost positive i know what your problem is. before tightening all your wingnuts make sure the gap between the lid and the base is the same all the way around. More than likely this is your problem. It happens when one side is up higher than the other, even a little bit will cause a leak. Also use petroleum as the manual says. I dont, I just make sure the gap between is uniform the whole way around.

Yeh I lubed up the everything like the manual said. The manual says the lid doesn't have to be perfectly even all the way around but I even made sure it was for extra measure.
It's possible it got warped somehow but it shouldn't break since I've been using it properly.

You must have missed the "finger tip" part eh? and if it's noticably uneven then I can't see it being guaranteed not to leak guys, As far as tightening they all get a light snug then it's a half crank on each wing nut at a time repeated until they are all nice and snug. GL! Sure hope you don't have to return that bad boy!
