Ramen Noodles & BRF
    #3269497 - 10/23/04 11:49 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

-Newbie's first post-

Inspired by a previous post about the possibilities of cultivating on Ramen (A wheat based midnight snack), my 'friend' (In Amsterdamn of course) decided to test this theory.

-A glad sandwhich container
-Ramen noodles
-BRF (Partially pulverized)
-KS Strain

He boiled 1/3 cup of BRF for about 3 minutes in a small amount of H2O (barely covering the BRF). Then put this in the bottom of the sterile contaier.

Inserted uncooked (of course) Ramen noodles on top of that & then added a bit more H2O.

Then boiled 1/4 cup of BRF in same ration of H2O in same time frame & covered the top of the noodles.

He then let the substrate sit for about 10 minutes, allowing the noodles to absorb as much H2O needed for hydration, drained off excess water & sterilized exposed areas of container again before sealing. Mixture is very moist, but not soggy & is able to retain shape.

inoculation was at 1815 once container and substrate cooled to room temperature.

I'll update with progress or lack there of.

Anyone else ever tried this or something similar?

It's an interesting experiment, but, technically, it's been proven that weight for weight, Brf + vrm will provide more nutes and water than the argueable more fluffy (easily colonized) and cheaper ramen substitute. It'll work, how well is up to the conditions you put it under.

That much inital H20 might screw up the myc and make it retarded, but, seeing as you boiled it, you probably broke it all down anyway.

I'm sure you're right...BRF & VRM will produce much better results for the obvious reasons. Just a little experiment spawned by boredom & curiosity. And actually, this is his first 'grow'. He's still gearing up for PF cakes & then on to casings.
