possible blue foots?
    #3268885 - 10/23/04 07:55 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Me and a friend were taking a walk through the cemetery like we usually do.  In any case, we happened upon some mushrooms.  We were wondering if anyone here could help identify what they are for us.  They seem pretty common, so i dont know if they are psychedelic or anything, but we took someanyway thanks

I have been interested in mycology for a while. I used tohave my own greenhouse that i had attempted to cultivate shrooms in but had only been mildly successful

Keep in mind , that we found them in a decidious forest, in upstate ny, with relatively low cold temperature (been around 50F for the week)  Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks in advance  :mushroom2:

And also does anyone know of any psyilocybe or other psychoactives that grow iin the northeast area?

They look familiar, Mycena species probably.. inedible. There is a lot of good info in this site regarding what active mushrooms grow in your area.

Me and my friend ate some of them, are we going to die or anything I was reading on a site that....

"Eat one wrong mushroom and, up to 2 weeks later symptoms develop, and the only chance of saving your life is a liver- or kidney-transplant."

or is that an exageration?

What? You ate them? What in the world compelled you to do that?

How long ago did you eat them? In most cases you would just get really sick and throw your guts up an hour or more after ingestion.

Dude... Dude... Please tell me you're kidding. You just ate unidentified, and possibly poisonous mushrooms? I don't mean to scare you if you already ate them, but man that was really stupid to do. As the more experienced mushroom hunters have already told you, all those are inactive and likely of the genus Mycena, some of which are deadly poisonous. Do yourself a favor, save whatever mushrooms you have left, and go to the hospital NOW. They're going to need to identify the mushrooms with an expert in order to tell if you're going to be alright. For the love of everything man, THINK next time. I pray for your safety, good luck

Just because you didn't die or get sick doesn't make it a good idea. What makes you think that you wont hurt yourself if you keep eating random mushrooms?

They're not random... they are shrooms found by him. There is nothing random about deliberately ingesting mushrooms- or too smart about eating anything without having the heads here ID them first. Oh, bother... Good luck to you. It may wear thin without more caution.

we found a bunch of these growing on rotten trees and sticks near a river bed. i think they might be bluefoots but not really sure... can anyone help.

there could bea couple different species in those

these look the same but alittle different-

and these areall of them, notice the slight differences ... thanks

we are doing a spore print on the first specimens, they look to be purplish and really dark although it hasnt printed too heavily yet

also we picked them in upstate ny so i am not sure about what sort of species comes around!

JUST IN: The spore print is definately purple on the first specimens,

none of them are active..
ps. caerulipes are out of
season by a few months...
some appear to be a species
of armillaria, I don't know this
species well. so I'm not wagering a
guess. your mixed collection should now
be tossed out.. Sometimes if you wish
hard enough you will see purple in brown
black and tan..either way they are inactive
that I can assure you of.. Nofindum..

you should be looking for gymnopilus in wooded/
forest areas. and possibly ps. semilaneata in pasture land...

good luck Nofindum...
