Sounds good to me...try to get the temp up a little more and they will colonize faster.

I just use a 400W HPS bulb in my closet which I use for...other things. But it makes a good amount of heat. I have it on a timer turns on for 15 minutes every 4 hours and raises the colonizing temperature to about 85 degrees. What is an ideal temp for colonizing?

i like the bulb idea but i will have one problem with that i will eventually have growing and incubating going on in the same room and it would throw my light time for my growing, but a great suggestion.

My makeshift incubator is a cardboard box propped up on books with a small 18" 15W fluorescent bulb sitting under it on a timer 1 hour on, 1 hour off. Keeps my temps at 83 - 86?F.

I plan on making a tub in tub eventually, cause.. well, my box is too small.

It depeneds on;

A) Your ambient conditions
B) The heating pad's power output
C) The size of your tub
D) The position of the moon

:tongue:

Basically, we have no way of telling you what will be right for your setup. You'll just have to experiment.

My heating pad is 55W and has Low, Medium and High settings. I've found that with the ambient air temp between 60 - 65?F, the heating pad on Medium results in my 30 gallon PMP remaining at a temperature of 73-75?F with 2" of water and 3" of perlite in it. I did buy a timer incase it needed to go on/off, but I found it wasn't necessary.

HPS is high pressure sodium. It's a grow light.
