Raw. You use brown rice _powder_ and sterilize it, then inoc. Just make sure you follow the pf tek for the correct mixture.

It needs to be ground.. I don't think you can use whole rice grains, if thats what you mean.

the only thing is..... it is a poorer substate then rye or bird seed straw is even better... youll get bigger shrooms and more of them and not that difficult really but if its your first grow the PF tek would be better to get your feet wet with

this is my second grow, first was brf and b+. this one is long grain brown rice with cambodian and tazmanian edit: also, can i wash the rice in rubbing alcohol first, then wash that again with distilled water? then of course cook the jars, but will the alcohol help with contams or hurt the rice? i think it would benefit me, but i could be wrong

You _have_ to ground it man. Make it into a powder and mix with verm. It's not like rye where you can just leave it whole.

No. Powder man. Make it flour like... that's why it's referred to as BRF.

Yes you can use whole grain brown rice with very good results
I cook the rice just like I was making dinner except that I use half the water recommened on the package. Watch the rice when it's cooking or it will stick to the pan. Drain very, very well and lightly pack into jars topped of with verm. PC for 1 1/2 hours
Continue as normal PF tek

im serious, i dont see how butter would harm it and it would also prevent the rice from sticking

As far as I have read any oils are very bad for the MYC. The rice dosn't stick toghter when you use half the water. Done it this way many times. In fact when I can't find my regular grains ,I use brown rice or popcorn for all my bulk grow needs. I live in the deep woods so it can be hard to find shit.

You really should grind it up. It takes about 5 mins with a blender to do enough for 10 jars. No biggie and colonization will be much faster. Everything I've read on using whole grain rice says don't waste your time. Just grind it man.

Move straight to popcorn if you aren't into grinding.
