Howdy, Innoculated 12 half-pint jars with PF MR exactly three weeks ago. Most of them have been at 100% colonization for about a week now. I was incubating them at an average temperature of about 84?F although two days ago I moved them away from the water heater and the temp has averaged 74?F. I did this because I thought it would initiate pinning. I see one possible pin but it's really hard to know for sure. Just a little red speck with possibly stipe but it could be an illusion from the glass and water in the jar. I birthed another jar that had been at 100% colonization for several days about a week ago and it has a few little fat bodies.. about 6 but only two are of any significant size (1/2" with red heads) and I'm hoping to get a better pin set on the next jars. Three questions: o Should I move the jars back up to 84?F to speed up pin development (assuming they have formed)? o Since I tamped most of the jars trying to fit in as much of the substrate as possible, will the lack of room inhibit invitro pinning? o In the one already birthed cake, would increasing the temperature speed development of these pins into mature fruits? Thanks, synaptic

o assuming they have then yes, keep em humid and fan. o it may inhibit lack of complete colonization, the middle of the cake may still be brf mix. avoid cramming and tamping, spoon it in loosely next time and it will be quicker.
o it should. avoid an area that has big fluctuations in temp, you want to stay away from high temps (95-105) or you will kill them
