Blueing???
    #326313 - 05/26/01 01:29 PM (23 years, 3 months ago)

AFOAF has 2 cambodian casings. Grown on verm/brownfrice and cased 50/50 tek. Its been 2 and a half weeks, and the mycelium on the top casing layer is matted down and blue. It has had tiny little bumpos for like a week but they are growing real slow. Just now starting to get pinheads. What should he do to speed it up and get rid of the blue?

If I remember correctly... I think the blueing comes from not enough oxygen exchange! It also sounds like you may have overlay.

If the casing has formed a dense-like mat of mycelium (does water collect in puddles when sprayed?), you have overlay. The only thing i know of to remedy this is to take a clean fork and scratch all of the casing up, mixing it evenly and breaking up any chunks. Even it all out and put a small layer of casing 1/8 to 1/4 inch over this. put this back into your humid terrarium DON'T overspray and remember AIR EXCHANGE is the key to a good casing.
