hey alien thank alot for adding more pranoia to my life---about a month ago I wanted to record a movie that was on basic t.v. we have digital cable so I had to disconnect the cable to do so. When I hooked it back up I went cable into vcr-vcr to t.v. about 45. minutes after I did this Charter communications(cable co.) was knocking on my door so I opened it the guy goes we just got a notice that your cable is hooked up wrong.
after they left I put duct tape acrooss the cable box front..all except for the little eye that accepts the commands for our remote.
I think they may be watching us. paranoia sucks

dimitri, that is some funny stuff man. I"m not even sure what to think of that. 45 minutes later they came knocking on your door becaus your cable was not working correctly. Strange indeed. Try opening up your cable box and see if their is a camera or microphone in there :) Is Big Brother really watching?

No doubt alien! I have the EXACT same problem as you, I have both AD-AWARE and AUDIOGALAXY, when my ad-aware REMOVED like 15 spyware references from my machine, NOTHING works correctly after that, esspecially internet explorer, this is fuct because my only FIX for it was to REINSTALL audiogalaxy sattelite. I still havent found a way to get rid of the shit yet... do you know of any? Anyway peoples..... look in your cookies for spyware files, here are a few

Doubleclick
cometcurser
GATOR and getright are two programs that install these,
doubleclick you will get just from visiting certain webpages.... this is truly dicked.

these are a few that you most likely have watching you

ad-aware from lavasoft is an excellent place to start.

And I say, what if the spychecker program is actually installing a spy program itself? Hmmmmm? A more informative and intrusive one, because you were so content on getting rid of the other programs, it deleted them, and gave you a more powerful one; because you are an obvious threat.

Hi,
Glad you brough this up Alien.

Spyware programs are far from new my friends? They were found in Real Player 3.0! Spyware is evil and its supposedly installed for marketing research is a joke! Another program thats nice is one called "Evidence Eliminator" - http://www.evidence-eliminator.com

One of the nice thing about this program is that it uses a ton of DOD (Department of Defense) standardized requirements AND, it shuts your computer down and works in DOS mode. This is nice because Windows keeps track of your movements, it basically just keeps a log of what you do. For example. It keeps a log of when you hit your START button, then which program you use...etc, etc...

Point is, it gets rid of those log files:) You should also encrypt a part of your hard drive to keep all your grow files etc. but thats another story;)

Absolutely lana, in fact hawk has a link to download PGP on his webpage. And there is another program called 'window washer' that supposedly 'bleaches' all your windows records and history files, but the thing is..... I heard about it from a BIG FLASHING BANNER on a pretty common webpage, so how can one trust something like that to truly be legit. Like 'safeweb' or 'anonymizer', they are both advertized everywhere with BIG FLASHING BANNERS for everybody, so how can they be 'truly' anonymous? Guess it just depends on who you are hiding from though

i just ran my program again and found 98 spyware programs!
I seem to be having a problem with something called Onflow. i didn't download it but i share my computer, so who know how it got there. anyways, it comes with an uninstall program, but the program tells you to exit all browsers and Explorer before running it. So i try to run it in DOS but it isn't a DOS program. i tried to delete it in windows and DOS, both times i get an access denied message. this thing has really lodged itself in my harddrive, anyone know how i can get it out?

Here are a few links:

www.pgp.com They have FREE encryption software, look around.
www.safeweb.com
www.anonymizer.com I don't really care too much for this one.
www.webroot.com window washer
www.zonealarm.com Freeware firewall
www.lavasoft.de Ad-aware

All of these are free, but I can't gaurantee HOW well they 'really' work

Well, Spyware isn't actually for spying, but more legal reasons. The reason it doesn't ask you, is because it isn't a particular violation of privacy. The program acts much like a cookie, logging information such as most viewed websites, things you like to purchase, and how much time you spend on the net.. things like that. Monitoring this information isn't illegal, cookies do it all the time, AOL probably does it often, and most free ISP's do it all the time. Most of it I would imagine is fairly anonymous, but you really do never know, they may be compiling information you wish to keep completely private..

Maybe even use it to arrest you for things noone should even know about. It's nothing to worry about REALLY, but realistically, it is.

In my opinion, your privacy should be PERSONAL. Nothing about you should be distributed, but most people don't realize the type of information they're sharing with companies over the internet, or the risks they are taking when visiting particular websites and downloading certain things.
Everyone should really keep their eyes peeled.

Everyone should realize, you can never TRULY eliminate all "evidence". You'd have to sand/burn/destroy your hard drive to do that. Physical remnants of ALL data are kept on your hard drive. Every program only helps so far. If an Federal Agent really wants something, he/she WILL get it. It's a false sense of security. But, for common reasons; ie. don't want your family, friends, spouses, bosses, etc to find certain information, it works just fine, unless they TRULY know what they're doing.

I removed some spyware from a library terminal and was bombarded w/ 12 or so www.clickheretofind.com/index.php3?l=fatalexit sites. Like a fucking machine gun.(not to mention a few other ads) But they wouldn't go away at first. When I clicked to CLOSE they would go to the bottom and then another one would immediately pop up. And no I didn't click the minimize or size button. There is one spyware program running in C:(cometcursor) and I can't access it(C:). I doubt I'll have this name here much longer.
Any feedback?

Give this a shot.

Clean out your cache folder. Sometimes pop ups are linked to look in the cache so that the load faster AND so that you can't get rid of them. It's a cheap marketing tactic that some sites use.

Also clean out all of your internet and windows temp folders.

hope it helps:)

I appreciate it and will keep it in mind for when I get a new computer older. Being at public terminals limits what I can and can not access. But at least w/ public terminals there is some level of . Now if I could only find body shades...
