Yawning
    #326242 - 05/26/01 11:52 AM (23 years, 8 months ago)

Does anyone else yawn heaps while on the mushies. This happens to me most likely while on the comedown stage. Sometimes it even appears to me that when I yawn I am in a different state after it, ie the lower state.

Yes, this almost always happens to me during the experience. I have many others whom this happens to always, some never. I've noticed that yawning for me is increased with higher doses.

Yeah, same with me, I also find it a little tricky to breath sometimes too.

Sometimes shrooms make me yawn. I wonder why though?

I also find it fuuny that if someone yawns and someone sees you, they will yawn also. It's like a chain reaction. Maybe yawning is kinda like hypnosis, and when you yawn, the other person becomes temporarily hypnotized, or they could be just as tired as you are...

Yawning is one of the early noticible effects of psilocybian mushrooms. It is from tryptophan which relaxes you and causes a slight easing of your body. Tryptophan is used in insomnia and depression becasue of its calming effects which also causes one to yawn.

Yeah, I kind of figured it had something to do with tryptophan/seratonin, since its involved with so many psychedelics and most make me yawn to some degree. Its also a side effect of ssri:s and quite noteable in opiate withdrawl

This is off-topic, but does anyone remember that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry always makes his girlfriend turkey(contains lots of tryptophan) so she will pass out and he can play with her toys? That was f'n hilarious!

This isn't really relevant, but a few years ago I heard about a trend in the UK where women would go and get this prescription that would make them orgasm if they yawned. So they would yawn all day long, I guess. It didn't work so well for guys. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
