PC'ing large quantities of substrate, how to?
    #3262234 - 10/21/04 10:31 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

So I've got a huge tube of soaked WBS and Verm waiting to be sterrilized, but the problem is I only have one dish that can fit inside. The only option I see is doing multiple cooks and casing my cakes as the sterrilized substrate becomes available...but I have 20 3/4quart jars ready, and a bunch of substrate to sterrilize and I'd like to keep them all growing at the same time to make things simple.

Any suggestions?

Get more jars.

Growing with bags, start to finish (including my new grain and substrate prep)
Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..
How I do grain (old still good tips)
Turn your closet into a fruiting chamber
Casing layer colonization and overlay

I could go get more jars and then just empty them into the casing tub when done....

Only way to really do it. I'm not sure exactly your problem/question is (cant picture what you mean).

Make up lots of rye..fill quarts jars with it. Sterilize. inoculate. Incubate. When fully colonized, break up into tray and spread casing mix over it. Incubate 3 more days. Patch. Fruit. Harvest. Enjoy and refruit for another 2-3+ harvests.

Great advice
But, you might also want to look into spawn bags, they've got some big ones I know they have ones made to hold least 5 lb of substrate. I've heard when you cook large amounts of grain, such as a 5 lb bag, to let it PC for a longer period of time.
