Some muscaria var formosa
    #3260812 - 10/21/04 05:11 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Took these today, as people looked at me strange. I saw these while driving down the road and I had to stop. It was a busy intersection. I got some weird looks but ah who cares, it's worth it. Frist time I have even been able to find a good patch of these in a while.

Nice pics.

Getting weird looks from people is part of mushroom hunting.

Yep, I usually can deal with it. One time I was in a trailer park picking a mushroom near some guy's shed. He came out of his house and started asking me all sorts of questions. He started getting angry. He thought that I was trying to steal from his shed despite my effort to convince him I was only picking mushrooms. He replied something like "What kind of bullshit excuse is that!". After that he started making threats that he would "hunt me down" if any items were missing.

I try to avoid going onto private property but sometimes I can't help it if I see something good growing there. But I still prefer going to the woods or some place less hectic but it depends on what I am going after.

Nice patch of Amanitas.

I must mention that when I pick in those kinda spots I pay no attention to anything except what it is that i am doing. nothing else existrs except me and the mushrooms. There is no one looking at me or watching me and no one who really cares what I am doing.

However, A few days ago on campus i was just photographing some pinners and a couple of guys walked by and said, "Ah!
cyanescens" and kept walking as they went by.

have a shroomy day.
And especially very nice photos. I must admiot I am jealous of your find.

Thats the way to do it, just forget that I am on my knees in front of traffic taking pics of some huge aminitas. A friend once said "You're weird for being so into mushrooms". I dont care what anyone says though, I do what I enjoy doing.

Some of them were like wider than a basketball! I only saw a few from the road but as I followed the line of pine trees there were probably around 50 or so in all.

Beautiful pics!

I especially like the pine needle bed they're growing in.  Really nice for contrast and texture!

Pretty!

I'm still trying to get the hang of it.. When I hold the cam, I lose focus in some of the pics cause there is a 2-3 second time delay when I hit the button. I use the finepix s3000. It seems to do much better when i set it on the ground. With most of these I got lucky and was able to keep focus. I'm gonna get this tripod maybe:

A person that takes mushroom pics recommended it.

I really like that tripod!

I think that's the way I need to go!

Do they sell to the public?

Looks like great quality for the price!

Very sweet amanita patch. I especially like pic #2 because it shows the gradiant red-white caps. Very high cool factor
