Yankees fans... Red Sox fans... whatever. They're all still cheering for a bunch of overpaid millionaires playing an overrated (and boring) sport.
What's truly frustrating for me is how baseball has been proffered up for the sports fans in Canada in lieu of a real sport, like hockey.
I'd rather mow my lawn... if it wasn't currently covered in snow.
Dammit.

the Sox are predistined to win... they will NOT loose the world series, they have an incredible steam going... who knows, maybe the team they will play( to be decided tommorow nght, game 7 baby, GO CARDINALS) will crush that steam, but it is doubtful... I would put money on the redsox

Well I'm an avid cubs fan. So obviously I'm going for the sox. Other than watching the cubs win my favorite two things to see in baseball are watching the cards lose and the yankees lose. Needless to say I have had a pretty good week, up until yesterday when those crap-hole cards hit a walk off homer in the 12th inning. But then last night the sox made me feel better.
The sox are the cubs AL doppelgangers, and many cubs fans feel some sort of empathy with the red sox. They both feel they are "cursed", they both play in the two oldest stadiums in baseball, and they both have a huge fan base nationwide, not just centered around their own geographical area. Hence the term "red sox nation".
Cards vs Astros, I'm pulling for the astros, not only cause I hate the cards but the astros have never been to the world series ever, so I'd like to see em go. I think clemens and the killer B's can pull it off, although most people dont seem to think they have a chance in hell. Lets face it the astros have a way better bullpen, and lidge is one of the best closers in the game, not to mention oswalt, who is incredible, could carry them through many extra innings.
But come saturday I'm pulling for the sox no matter who they play. If they play the cards, I will just be rooting for them a little more enthusiastically. If they play the astros I'll have to switch from rooting for the astros to rooting against them. I really don't like the astros when it comes down to it, they had beef with my cubs this season, which surfaced in a bean ball war between roy oswalt, kerry wood, and michael barret. However they have the advantage of not being the cardinals so I'll root for em for now.
Yesterday I got to see a beautiful thing, a bunch of yankees fans looking all depressed cause their precious team lost, now I just want to see the same thing from a bunch of cards fans
GO SOX!!!

Yea that's why they call baseball an American past time, not a Canadian past time.
Baseball is by no means a "fake" sport or in any way not a real sport, it just takes a little less brawn and a little more brains than your other sports, thats why I like it
Any sport is boring if you're not interested in it. I find basketball, hockey, football all to be insufferably boring.
Man its gonna be a long six months till next april
Oh yea, GO SOX!!!

If baseball takes "a little less brawn," then why are players taking androstenedione (is it still legal?) and other 'performance enhancing' supplements? I think brawn is pretty much all that many baseball players have going for them, actually.
And brains? Maybe some mind games, but aside from the pitcher and the manager, I don't see baseball players doing much thinking at all. What would they think about?
Yes, it was flippant to assert that baseball is not a 'real' sport, but for me, it ranks right around curling. Now, curling is definitely not a real sport, but you can drink a lot of beer while you're curling, which makes it a great pastime.
And for the record, thecornking, it's the Calgary 'Stampeders,' and the team formerly known as the Ottawa 'Rough Riders' (vs. Saskatchewan 'Roughriders') has been reborn as the 'Renegades.' It was and still is a fairly decent joke though...
