 Storing Mushrooms?

Hey guys.
Mushrooms should be here tomorrow, but I'm not using them until next week. How can I store them until then? I can't use the fridge (parents) and I dont want to dry them, as this is my first time. Would they be ok to just leave them in my room?

well I just leave my shrooms in my room and they dry out. But theyre libs so maybe they dry out quicker and easier as theyre a lot smaller than other varieties... Leaving them in tha fridge is good temporarily but they will go bad in a week i reckon

Drying them isn't that hard to keep hidden.
Since you probably can't fan dry for 24 hours and then use desiccant in a bowl, I suggest using desiccant for 24 hours, and then changing the desiccant and leaving for another 24 hours or until they are cracker dry.
Just put a piece of wire mesh or something in the bowl so your mushrooms are suspended up above the desiccant that you will put in the bottom of the bowl, and it will take the moisture right out of the mushrooms.

Desiccant? Whats that?
And if you put them in the fridge do they lose any potency?
What if I put them the freezer to freeze them? is that ok?

desiccant is stuff that you can get from any local hardware store in the paint section usually. It's used to drying paints etc. Relatively cheap.
If you put them in the fridge they should be fine until the weekend with no potency loss.
I'm not sure what the freezer will do to them, but I doubt it will lessen their potency, in fact it would probably preserve the potency and just freeze the 90% water that's in fresh shrooms. You'd end up with shroomcicles.

DON'T freeze them if they're fresh.
you'll end up with a disgusting mush when they thaw. Run a search.

So, I have them! Anyway, what container should i put them in for the fridge? Should I put them in a paper bag? I'm NOT drying them.

Dry mushies wont turn into a black goo. Ive had this happen quite nasty, but i ate em anyway. Very fun but nasty. Dry them they keep MUCH better. I usually stick them in a paper bag in the fridge. Dont keep them in there any longer than a few days.
