Ok to eat after bugs?
    #3258876 - 10/20/04 11:54 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

Hey, would it be ok to eat cyans that look to have been partially eaten by bugs and kind of old or should I just throw em out?

Personally, I wouldn't eat em if they were infested or looked old. Rotted mushroom can't be good.

a little bug munching doesnt hurt, but if they are literally rotton/moldy, thats a different story

:crazy2:

but in all seriousness, unless there is a visible rot/mold, the bug munching is not gonna hurt anything.  these mushrooms sprang through the dirt, i'm sure theres more bacteria on the mushroom from the soil/woodchips than there is in that bugs mouth

Just for future refrence, if they smell rotten (kind of a musky smell), do not eat them. Rotten mushrooms can give you food poisoning just like any other rotten food item can.

Also for future reference... toe fungus is not half bad, and I would eat it long before I would eat a rotted mushroom.

If you dry them out after picking them the shrooms wouldl be okay to eat. once dried the larvae are inert and besides that they are protein.

As for eating fresh rotted shrooms. thats totally disgusting.

And disturbing
