First rye try, help?

After succeeding with PF brf, I wanted to try growing on rye. I?ve got some petri dishes with some mycelium I cloned from a beautiful and rich cake, which I plan to use in 3 days to inoculate lots of jars. The question: I will mix 130 grams of whole rye with 100 ml of water in pint jars. Should I cook, or toast, or turn the rye into flavor, or shall I just leave it as it is (whole grain)? Sorry if it sounds stupid this question, but I want it all to go peeerrrrrrfect!!! just as the first batch :B Any aditional comments are very much appreciated. Thanks; *the best hobbie ever!!! *

Leave the rye whole and sterilize for an hour in a pressure cooker. If you grind the rye to flour it will cook into one big lump unless you mix it with verm.

130 g rye in a pint jar is too much, you won?t be able to shake it properly. 100 g water is too little. Try 110 g rye and 120 g water. --------------------------------------- kickme.to/mushroomsEdited by Anno on 05/25/01 05:45 AM.

Don't forget to add a little (1 gram) gypsum. It will help to keep the grain from clumping.

if you let it presoak for 24 hours, you won't have to fuck with the additional water. Too much and you'll run into wet spot. add a litlle h2o2 and you can kill some of those spores.
