I wouldn't it is slightly toxic. However I don't know.

Potassium Chloride is toxic like table salt, or anything for that matter, is toxic; if you eat too much, it'll kill you but you need to eat a LOT of it. It'll dry stuff out but it'll be much slower than Calcium Chloride. CaCl is sold as DampRid at hardware stores, i suggest using that.
