 Intelligent Nature

Is nature an intelligent process? Nature has created some incredibly complex organisms all through the process of evolution, a brute force style of learning. To me it seems some things are too perfectly random to be just random processes (like the spots on a butterfly's wings that look exactly like two huge owl eyes). But if you take into account an incredibly large timespan and a huge number of variables I guess anything is possible.

evolution is not a proven process yet.

but i do agree, their is an intelligence behind nature. it breaks up into realms of awareness, mineral, vegetable, animal, human.

It just doesnt add up for me, I mean what steps were involved in the process of a spider gaining the use of its spiderweb silk stuff... And its almost unbelievable how some insects have evolved to be completly camoflaged(sp?!!!)
If it wasnt for 'survival of the fittest' just think how fucked up looking some animals today could look!!

nature is really beyond intelligence, and it deserves being marvelled at, even without putting forth such conjectures.
I mean it is extremely smartly functioning, but it is not oversee-ing itself.
The author is trying to suggest that nature is so smart that it obviously is overseeing itself. Huh?? well it is better functioning than a car, so you could say it is better designed than a car, but I don't see that at any stage it was designed, so it designed itself??? that's pretty anthropomorphic and not likely true.
So he gets on about evolution being too good to be accidental with butterfly spots looing like eyes etc.
I say he needs to study genetics a lot more - study evolution more, and he should relax on being so impressed with his ability to get ahead of himself.
Some of us are thinking to quickly for ourselves and can't oversee that either. not too intelligent.

gravity is lame.
i have no opinion on evolution really. how does it help me?
how does knowing weathr or not i was evolved from an ape help me right now?
how does that help me raise my kids? or get along better with my wife?
same with gravity.
how does proving or disproving it help me?
and as far as the article goes, i do not believe nature is overseeing itself, anymore than the known population of red foxes are overseeing themselves.
not that that has anything to do with it.

Ok, but the word wrangling won't help see it as a totality;
it is easier to study the pieces (be a naturalist), and the systems and cycles, and allow them to fit together "Naturally".
