Self Deception
    #3256597 - 10/20/04 04:56 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I do not believe in free will but decieve myself to the extent where I live every day as if I have my own will
how do you decieve yourself?

The tricky thing about deception

Is that you never know how you're being deceived

As this is the point of deceit

many people are aware of self deception
they try hard not to know

look at the holocaust for example
this doctor was selling cyanide to the SS
after the holocaust was revealed to the world the doctor was "shocked" to hear the cyanide was used on jews and others
i really do believe he was shocked, he just worked very hard to not know what the cyanide was used for

Yeah, but then wouldn't that only be pseudo-deception, as you're aware of it's existence as self-deception, and therefore it isn't truly deceiving?

But I know what you mean, I'm just playing around :P

I have no hard evidence of God's existence or nonexistence, but I still believe in such an entity.

I cannot prove free will exists, but I believe it does.

I cannot prove that the world as I experience it exists, yet I act as though it does.

I do not know anything for certain, yet I still insist on certain things being "facts."

I never decieve myself. I know this for a fact.

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda
