I'm just getting into this, looking to buy some petri dishes (picked up agar today at an Asian market, cheap!). My question is: There are 60 mm and 100 mm petri dishes, what size do people usually use for agar cultures, or does it not matter?
Just wanted to know if the 60s tend to be too small, or the 100s are lots of wasted space.
Quote: Anno said: I use both. You need less agar for the small ones, on the other hand you have less area to work with.
I would still go with the 60 mm for the start.
goodie, just grabbed myself some of them 60mm for my start in the world of agar myself. i was tempted by the 100mm but, hmm, contams could hit easier on the big ones i figured so, well, better do 2 x 60mm than 1x 100mm, atleast ill do that. peace ohm
